Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Shred it with what?

Also I genuinely have nowhere I could put it to compost right now.

I am no gardener. I just hack back the constant growth from this time each year and surprise myself nothing dies.

We also pay for garden waste collection - possibly it's illegal for the council to charge, but that will be resolved in years to come - and they have only announced they're stopping collections, not that they're reducing payments. I have about eight compost heaps and I cannot possibly handle the amount of wood the garden produces in a year.

It’s a pity some of you don’t live near me, I’d quite happy take logs, woodchip, cardboard (not the shiny stuff) and compostable waste off anyone’s hands.

My experience with a small domestic shredder was not encouraging. It was inherited from previous homeowner. Maybe it worked with soft green stuff but anything twiggy (of which I have a lot) was basically impossible.

I have a shredder. It regularly clogged up. Only any good for hard stuff. Which wasn't too big. Then it packed in completely. The amount of useful stuff I got out was not that much. I came to the conclusion that having a small domestic-sized shredder is one those things which seems a good idea, but doesn't really work out that way. (See also: weed burner.)
