How are you getting one Gf? You're not old enough or in a vulnerable category? Or have you gone private. Yip, as many people to get the boosters as possible, would be my view. I'm getting mine on Friday, along with flu. Before Covid, I didn't used to bother even with flu jag. But now that I've seen some of the horrendous effects of long covid, or side effects of covid and other viruses, I'll take a vaccine any time, thanks! G |

I've been offered one in the 'vulnerable' category every time HG as someone with clotting issues. Never asked for it or anything, a text message just rocks up telling me to book it. I don't usually take the flu jab even though I get offered that as well. It's the effects of long covid that scare me too, but every vaccine so far has destroyed me for 48 hours and I'm still nervous of the issues some people have had from the vaccine (including clots!) I think I'm going to go but I am very nervous |

I think everyone is right to look at the side effects of any vaccine or medication they are offered. But on balance, I think all medicines offered in the UK are safer than the thing they are trying to protect against. But def worth checking specific ones against your condition and weighing up. I haven't heard of any specific side effects around clotting, but to be honest, I haven't been looking for that, so there may be information out there that I'm not aware of. I'm not bothered about 24/48 hours feeling a bit ropey - gosh, that's normal with a cold or dodgy takeaway! I'm concerned about years of respiratory, immune or other organ problems that lots with long covid (and other post viral conditions) have experienced. Best wishes to anyone suffering, and also to those worried about vaccines too. |

I had mine. I guess it depends on how important your health and/or fitness are to you - but covid has already completely destroyed my health & fitness, I don't need it doing any more damage. |

Yeah HG, I have it today as there's nothing important to do in next 48 hours so it's a convenient time to be ill just for a short time. Whereas with Covid there's no guarantees, days, weeks, months, god knows what. But I feel a bit sick about it going in me. I know they are doing millions of the things and I'm being ridiculous, but I just feel so weird about it |

Did you get vaccines as a kid for polio, mumps, rubella, whooping cough etc? Didn't do you any harm. And guess what? You didn't get polio, mumps, rubella, whooping cough etc? Just think of it like Aspirin! Hope you are OK. G

I assume I did lol, I actually have no idea! The only one I remember is TB but I'm sure I would have had everything going. I am waiting for the inevitable next dose of Covid (can't believe it's just been once so far tbh) so a 'lesser' dose will be most appreciated |

Try years - I had covid in March 2020. Over 3.5 years later, I'm still showing no signs of making a recovery (and, realistically, I'm not likely to - after that length of time it's not going to fix itself, and there's no actual treatment available) A couple of days of feeling a bit rough vs a lifetime of disability? Not a difficult decision. |

There's a recent paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov that shows that the mRNA type vaccine ( Pfizer-Biontech and Moderna ), not the viral-vector based vaccine (Janssen), can suppress some natural body defenses :- "Findings from this study imply that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines may suppress IFN-mediated innate immunity and impair immune defense through induced autoimmunity in some healthy individuals, who may need to switch to another type of COVID-19 vaccine (e.g., a viral vector-based vaccine)." Way beyond my level of understanding, but slightly worrying.......... |

Andy, I totally understand your position, what you've been through over the last 3.5 years is truly awful I'm not talking about feeling ill for 48 hours being the issue. I have very good friend that has had her health destroyed. This however was from the vaccine. A tiny chance, yes, but I've witnessed that first hand and therefore of course that plays on my mind when I'm about to put the same thing in my body. So whereas I appreciate for you it isn't a difficult decision, it is for me. |
