um
Here, or the other thread?
Are pictures like this (Soho, yesterday) real? or does the lens foreshorten the space between people? This is Soho, but plenty of other images in other towns showing similar. To me, this isn't respecting distance, even if outside, and I'm not surprised at rising numbers.
If I saw somewhere like this, or the pub gardens I go to were that busy, I'd walk away.
Or am I just being too cautious?

The president of Bolton University showed a BBC TV NW Tonight reporter around parts of the campus one day last week - much thought & work had clearly gone into virus security but the missing element was the students, staff and admin & support staff - Grast_girl rightly highlights additional risks to library, IAG and security workers, for example, as well as public facing staff in the wider community.

The lens forshortneing probably does make it look worse than it is, but I wouldn't chose to join them

My brother lives near Soho. He’s told me about similar scenes that have been going on for weeks.

i wouldn't join them, but looks like plenty off people would. I agree some forshortening by camera, maybe strictly speaking the seats are distanced appropriately and realistically perhaps the risks are quite small as its outside. TBH probably wouldn't be somewhere id fancy without Covid though

I guess being outdoors the risk is lower, but I agree with others that its not a situation I would choose to be in

Because all the side streets are closed to allow for outside tables my bro says it’s like a festival with people wandering around in big groups, stopping to speak to other groups etc He feels uncomfortable and goes a different way if he can.

My son's back to uni next weekend - they are going to be in 'households' of 4 (though his is a 5) and I don't think there supposed to mix with other households

and they've been offered covid tests every week (pooled household tests) to try and cut down on asymptomatic transmission.
