+1 for jda's thoughts above. This isn't about being a selfish runner (much as I'm sure some curtain twitchers would argue), it's about being fortunate that we are in a group of people who can (and should) continue to do positive things which will keep us mentally and physically well without harming others. The challenge is that for so many people many opportunities have been taken away from them, and when they see others able to continue (some) of their hobbies without huge interruption (obvs, races, parkruns, group training etc) there is a degree of jealousy which inevitably creeps in. Especially at a time when people's livelihoods and incomes are hugely at risk in many cases. |

I have highly socially responsible neighbours with dogs. I couldn't care less whether they take their canines out once or ten times a day, as long as they socially distance each time.

I very much agree with larkim's second para. It's unfair to others to be seen to be taking the piss. If you can exercise, get outside, without using a car - then do so. Preferably on your own. If everyone suddenly thinks, 'Oh it's ok to drive to xx (the local beauty spot)' then you'll get the Mothering Sunday situations all over again. Packed car parks and real difficulties in social distancing. |

The core legislation is from Wesminster but Scotland has to implement it separately which it did on 27 March. Today's Scottish Act deals with other things, eg courts, prisons, evictions,.debts, etc., all of which are very different in Scotland.

Most people on here seem reasonable, unfortunately the stark reality of it is that there is a large proportion of selfish idiots in each community who don't give a damn about the law, guidelines, what's morally 'right or wrong' for the country or even at the lowest level how their actions impact on their neighbours. I have returned to work this after a week off to find an absolute *deluge* of nuisance neighbour complaints involving parties, bonfires and other anti-social behaviours that are not exactly ideal at the best of times, let alone when everyone is cooped up in restricted environments with no escape. As an EHO at a local authority I also now have powers to enforce the new legislation (in addition to those granted under existing legislation) and like the police feel as though I am damned if I do, damned if don't. Pragmatic responses are all very well, but the typical type of people I have been dealing with in these types of situation for 15 years are very rarely the ones who will acknowledge their bad judgements and would much rather go running to the press crying 'foul' rather than just tempering their behaviour for a mere 3/4 week. |
