Ok, "personal healthcare accounts" but yes, same idea: theguardian.com |

Swittle, the BBC is part of the problem. Their summary (link) is NOT an accurate description of the law. bbc.com E.g., the law does not limit how many times you may exercise; and it permits you to go to and from work if it is "not reasonably possible" to work at home. The BBC has it that you can only go to work if "absolutely necessary". No wonder the police are confused, not to mention the curtain-twitchers. If I was in England right now, I'd take a copy of ss6 with me whenever I went out. |

The running one we are debating at home. We can do a local run if exercising; i.e. from home and not driving to parkland somewhere. Are there any restraints as to how far from home you can run? For example, is a twelve mile out-and-back route still considered local if you are six miles away from home?

No, there are no limits according to the law in England. I reckon if you run your usual routes, this is also within the non-binding "guidelines". Unless you normally drive for an hour out of town to go running! |

They've already had to clarify tonight's briefing after saying you can only shop once a week.

Oh ffs. How does that work when you can only buy 3 cartons of milk at a time?

I wouldn’t be able to fit a week’s worth of fresh stuff in the fridge.

I think we are being a bit harsh on the police and I am not convinced they were over zealous. Before the weather turned nasty earlier in the week I was seeing around 4 or 5 runners on my usual route, where I have rarely seen a runner before, and this was early in the morning. When I went for a walk on Holme Moss on the Sunday before lockdown I have never seen so many people out up there in my 15 years here apart from the Tour de France when it came through. It was impossible to keep 2 metres away and there were several huge groups with 10 plus people in them. The water board put concrete bollards out to close the car parks at the reservoirs below Holme Moss, as they were packed on both the Sunday and the Monday, yet the next day somebody had dragged them out of the way. There was also a police raid on a pub in Holmfirth this Saturday where they were having a lock in. Oddly I haven't seen it reported in the press but it can't be the only one. You and me and everyone are making huge sacrifices to stop the spread of this disease and I personally want the police to stop people who are breaking the rules and are not socially distancing. That's not being over zealous. |

Errr, while what has been posted about the law is absolutely true, there's a wee bit of a discussion going on about whether we should all be sticking to the letter of the law or the spirit of the law, as per the guidelines, rather than the legislation. Go out as little as possible, for as short a time as possible, really, isn't it? Food, medicines and *some* exercise. Using one's own discretion on that exercise, but less is best, surely? Sorry if this has been debated to death already, just thinking out loud, really. Stay safe everyone. G |

Surely the issue is the likelihood of transmission? If I run past someone at the better part of 2m distant, what is the realistic chance of either one of us infecting the other? Compare that to the behaviour inside shops and I really don't think that a run - of whatever length - is the issue here. Sure, don't meet with friends, sure don't bump into strangers, and probably don't call in to the co-op when dripping sweat, either. |
