Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Pregnant women I assume they are routinely tested as they go to hospital to have baby.

I'd like to see risk of catching it, not just risk of getting severe hospitalization or death. I'm not worried about dying, not keen on living with impaired respiratory function or other long covid symptoms. But I don't think any of the calculators show that.

How is absolute risk lower than risk with no risk factors when I've got no risk factors?

It may come down to location Larkim - presumably the no risk factors option is UK average. I had a higher than expected risk - about 1 in 5600 if I remember, but I live near Leicester which has been a hotspot. In effect home address can be a risk factor

I think that's right - I removed my postcode and they aligned (for death), though were still a little out of step for hospitalisation.

87yo housebound MiL has had vaccine 1 - yay. But not without incident.

Mrs Axe told the person who called that she would almost certainly be in bed sleeping and would not hear or answer the door and ensured that they had the key safe code to let themselves in and wake her up. Of course they arrived, didnt know about the key safe and got no answer from the buzzer. Luckily the ground floor neighbour somehow stepped in, called Mrs Axe and got permission to share the done (he has it just in case) and they got in and gave the vaccine.

I know its hard to be critical but Mrs Axe knew this would happen and ensured the message was made clear, but it didnt obviously pass down the line
