THat's good news JB
(My eldest has been given a letter from HR at his company co-signed by someone NHS'y stating something about his essential NHS related occupation (he's a medical equipment electronic engineer) and his two vulnerabilities. The GP has flagged something on the system and is hopeful he'll get a call soon)

Mr received his letter and has booked his vaccinations. I'll be relieved when he has had it because, although he is fit for his age, he's no spring chicken.
Another even older is Capt Tom who had pneumonia and was at home. Tested positive for Covid and went into hospital today for help with breathing. Hannahs tweet led me to think the pneumonia preceded the Covid.
I too wonder whether Barbados was a great idea but I suppose it could just as easily be touch transmission.

Captain Tom, totally cool doing the zimmer thing round the garden for charity. But at 100 getting knighted, going to Caribbean, catching CV19, surely you've got to say that's just a brilliant way to go?! G

I agree HappyG.
I had my Pfizer jab on 20th January but haven’t been given a date for the second one. Slightly worrying about that.

Sounds mostly likely that he got pneumonia from the stress of the travel (my FiL has done this twice) and then later picked up covid in hospital or otherwise. Nevertheless, a lot of mixing and travel completely contrary to all advice.

Start of a new month. Expect it to be as riveting as January lol.
But hey, did get to see the Humpback Whale again yesterday.
Police regularly visiting the know 'whale spotting' vantage points, but everyone behaving themselves so were left in peace.

Hopefully all relatively local as well? Are they checking cars & distances? (openly or covertly)
Or just going to see the whales as well?

Let's just hope that the downward trend in infections through January continues in February, with the subsequent significant fall in deaths. Looks like the vax target is going to be met on the 15th too.
Just need people to stop being stupid and obey the rules.

From what I've heard, they are just ensuring that people are physically distancing.
The times that I've been there, that's been the case and many people have been masked.
No idea whether checks have been done on whether 'spotters' are local. Doubt many people are travelling that far, as whales are fickle beasties. Many spotters will have walked like me.
i doubt it whale-watching is a "reasonable excuse" list. But it is fresh air, safe and great for mental health.

It's outdoor exercise innit. Probably not quite within the strict letter of law if all you do is drive and watch, but I agree that so long as crowds aren't huge it's no problem (and think it's reasonable for the police to have an occasional check that the crowds are not huge).
Even just being out in fresh air is widely regarded as being good for health with respect to respiratory viruses. Mechanisms not that clear.
