PenW did they know at the time they had COVID? I didn’t think there were confirmed cases as early as January

Yes MN they were transferred when diagnosed with covid because our hospital (Newcastle RVI) was one of the high consequence infectious diseases units designated to receive cases - it was the Chinese student and parent in York who both contracted covid.

LMH, I think you are right and I have read elsewhere, albeit on a site that may not be well informed, that the housebound teams only started middle of last week. MiL today said she wants to change her housebound classification and toddle round to the GP and we had to spend a while expiniing why that wasnt possible and also even if it was, would be impractical.

Lets hope she is picked up net week as it does appear as if we are picking up pace with over 75s being called in to mass centres starting next week.

TR and JB: I've noticed the same problem with the vaccine queue calculator. Last week it was telling me 8th to 19th March (I think - I may have misremembered slightly but it was around those dates) now it's saying 23rd April to 10th May - but the figures they give are consistent with vaccination in March. I think they've made some changes to the calculator recently and it looks like someone's got their maths wrong (I hope so anyway as I'd really like to be vaccinated as soon as possible!)

I'm 55 with no underlying conditions or special circumstances, by the way.

At least one death has been posthumously attributed to covid before those two cases (although I can't find the article now.)

I suspect the vaccination predictor may be accounting for possible shipment delays from Pfizer and a little bit of ramping up of second doses.

I doubt they have access to the delivery schedules. It is pretty much a state secret at the moment.

Yeah it was definitely January I had a horrendous flu/chest infection and people started saying is that what you’ve got. I’d not knowingly been in contact with anyone with links to China & doctors never questioned it. In fact one doc I spoke to said it was just a new variant of flu more likely to cause pneumonia

Possibly, GG - I did wonder if that was the reason - but the text on the site does suggest that it's just a straightforward calculation based on the current vaccination rate and the number of people in front of you in the queue.

Given that there was only a small number of people vaccinated before January, I wouldn't expect second doses to make much of an impact before the end of March - unless they're going to be re-vaccinating significant numbers of people earlier than 12 weeks from their first dose?
