what WT said. i am no doctor so the sample size is small (ie only my aquaintances) but i have seen several people have a TERRIBLE experience with depo. at least with the pill you can come off it quickly and it's out of your system quickly.

I wouldn't recommend depo, unless other methods don't suit, mainly because it's not quickly reversible. If you're definitely against hormonal methods then give the copper IUD a go but it may cause heavy bleeds, though won't alter the timing of your periods.
Agree with WT re diaphragm, useful method for 'spacing' family, or if pregnancy wouldn't be a complete disaster as it is pretty faffy, and tbh as barrier methods go, the condom works (though being dependent somewhat on men it has it's drawbacks). Also - I would say that not any one method suits everyone, and though some of the side effects listed of hormonal methods may sound bad, until you try you don't know how they may affect you, the pill has huge advantages in terms of controlling bleeding, and postponing periods etc, though as a GP I'm supposed to push other methods. Personally whichever suits you best, is the best method for you whatever the government says!

MrWT got his final test result today. The vasectomy worked and he is now sterile. I took my last pill this morning. Fingers' crossed, my system sorts itself out quickly, I can finally lose some weight, not have skin like an angry teenager or mood swings like my Mother! Happy day.

More pill issues.
I've now been on mini pill 15 months. For the 1st 5-6 I took Cerazette. It was awful from start to finish.
Since then I've been on micronor, which has been ok. But in the last few months, like Cerazette, I've been having more and more periods. I'm now on my 3rd in 5 weeks (tend to last a week each) and getting really pi**ed off as I'm also getting hideously bad period pains and just want to be curled up in a ball in the dark with a hot water bottle. Anyone else on this pill?

It's funny how differently we are effected. I was on Cerazette for a year and no periods at all. I've had the implant since May and so far have had 2 days of bleeding in total.
Is there a particular reason you are on the mini pill GF? As opposed to something like Microgynon.

I used to be on microgynon for about 9 years or so- had no issues ever but then I got blood clots in my lungs so they took me off it

Ahh, I was just thinking about this thread this morning.
Going on from what I said about Cilest three weeks ago, (having now finally got round to doing a pregnancy test) I can't sing it's praises high enough. The first 6 months were rough with the frequent (albeit very light) periods and bad skin, but over the last few weeks my skin has gone back to normal, and I've not had a period, not even spotting, since June!
