Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I don't much fancy chocolate Yule log with Wensleydale cheese.

I've just had an interesting concoction at work, provided by one of the nurse practitioners. Wensleydale cheese with cranberries ... and raisins and amaretto. "This cheese tastes of marzipan," I thought before checking the label. I could've eaten the entire block had I not used up all the digestive biscuits in the biscuit box.

Even I'm not rough enough to have cheese on shortbread.

Who said cheese needs to go on anything? I like it mostly as it is, biscuits, with the exception of digestives, ruin it.

I too have been converted to cheese with fruit cake, though I prefer cheddar, I find Wensleydale a bit too mild.

Not long after I was married my MiL made us a Christmas cake. When I talked about putting the marzipan and icing on husband looked at me as if I was crazy! It was the only bit I’d eat as a child.

I traded a couple of tweets with Dave A this morning about cheese and Christmas cake. It seems that we were both brought up on the white crumbly cheese being Cheshire rather than Wensleydale. Either one works really well with Christmas cake IMO. Looking forward to hopefully having some on Boxing Day in Yorkshire with my family :-)

My granny used to have (proper) cheddar with Christmas cake. I still do, much to the horror of MrsC and the amusement of The Minors.

Lancashire is also nice with fruit cake. And I'm with Meglet on the necessity of anything with cheese.

My Dad used to like Stilton cheese with his cake, but he was on his own with that one, that was a cheese too far for the rest of us.

Mmm, cheese... Apparently the neighbours have cheese and mince pies left over from yesterday's party, so we have to go round today for round 2 :-D
