The cheese takes the edge off the sweetness of the cake, IMO.

Does anyone else have to say Wensleydale in a Wallace voice and animated fingers?

Great cakes! We don’t bake but have been given two today homemade by others. one is a small Christmas cake and the other a large chunk of Dundee cake. I love fruit cake, but it does not need cheese for me.

We always had Madeira cake and cheese out on plates at Hogmanay for visitors along with the party Susie. Fried clootie dumpling was often done on Boxing Day...yuk.

I've encountered and even eaten fried Christmas pudding but there are many things I'd rather eat.

Love the cake, HB - I thought the dino was a cactus a first (and was looking forward to the explanation), till I had a closer look. Though either make an interesting festive addition, and I'm sure dinosaurs are always welcome and never need an explanation.
Not sure I'd like fried cake.
