Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks Fetch for the lovely message and all the work that goes into prizes and this site.

Mum in Law arrived today. Tomorrow we play boat oven jenga to fit the whole meal in. Looking forward to late Jan/early Feb when we can have Christmas number two in our new house.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Yesterday went well. Nice ham. Decent not wet walk. Today not so good, a junior or two have called in sick after working their finger to the bone on strike. OH has gone in to cover for a few hours.

Thanks Fetch for all your work on this site - to think I found it back in 2007 when looking for an online place to log my running while recovering from a sprained ankle...(sound familiar folks?! ;) ). It's been lovely meeting you all virtually and a number of you in person over the years.

I like this thread as it's fun to hear what others are doing. I can't believe the price of turkey and fortunately it's not an issue for us, being vegetarian, occasionally pescatarian.

Merry Christmas everyone! :) decorate

Covid has decimated our family's Christmas plans but MaltDrinker should be safe to venture out of the spare room tomorrow so at least we will have the day together 🎅🤶

D2 probably not too early for a Chr
Covid has cancelled my Christmas plans too, I was to go to my daughters but they have tested positive. Luckily my son and family are going to lay an extra place at their table for me!

Sorry to hear about all the Covid struck plans. But lovely to hear how you’re making the best of it.
I ran a windy festive parkrun yesterday then spent the day helping Mr S prep a buffet for us, my in-laws and our friends and kids. We had an extended family age range of 9 to 80 and an 11 year old Westie.
Christmas Dinner will be traditional turkey and all the trimmings from our friends’ farm. I love all the Christmas veg apart from parsnips and look forward to all the leftovers for the rest of the week. Mr S does the cooking and I sous chef, clean up and go and fetch things.

Thank you to Fetch and Katie for setting the helpful, supportive and friendly tone for this community and thank you Fetchies for being part of it. I have met some wonderful friends through this dire and enjoyed some unforgettable experiences through running, swimming and cycling, supported and encouraged by this space

We're not sure whether younger son and his partner will join us tomorrow. They've had/got heavy cold/cough and we have Mrs TR's mum with us for Christmas day and they're worried about potentially passing it on.
Apparently they also mentioned to Mrs TR that they were worried about passing it on to me. I'm offended - I'm only 63, that's not old and in need of protection 🤣🤣
Anyway, hopefully they are at the end of it and will be able to join us.

I believe we picked up 9 different animal species yesterday in our Christmas order. Much of it has already gone in the freezer of course, to be consumed through the coming months.
