Just having a read back £97 for a turkey WOW! We stopped buying turkey years ago as none of us really liked it it was habit. Last few years we’ve bought a 2 rib of beef. This years was way over 3kg and cost £48 that the parents all decided they weren’t coming (probably because we didn’t say early enough they were invited even though they come pretty much every year…) means it s in the freezer for a new year meal.
My mother in law is struggling with feeling overwhelmed with life and why they opted for a solo Xmas had I known sooner and maybe not trusted husband to sort out invites they’d have come so I’m feeling very sad.
I am struggling this year so far behind on jobs still lots of wrapping to do and feeling less than festive. I’m also on desert for cousins Xmas dinner where we are going and it should have been made yesterday.
I’ll do a short run at some point this afternoon by which time I hope everything will be done and I can start to relax. I’ll also run Xmas day even if it’s just a mile.
Whatever you’re doing I hope you have a good day today and sending Fetchmas love to all… now do I go and wrap presents while everyone else is sleeping

jinglegeordie, we’ve gone for a 2 rib of beef too this year. We weren’t at home last year, but the year before we had goose for the first time, which was okay, but we went for beef this year. We did our shopping a few days ago - went to Aldi at 3pm and it was really quiet. All dates of veg, cream etc were totally fine for our needs so it was nice to get it done early and I love a full fridge.
Tomorrow going over to see Dad, who is pretty much bed bound, except the carers wheel him into the living room once a day. We’ll take the dog for a nice walk on the coast path, and then go and see him for lunch, where I’ll heat up a meal for him. If it’s like two years ago, he’ll fall asleep in a couple of hours, and then we’ll come home and have our meal etc in the evening. We’ll do the beef today, and then we’ll prep all the veg tomorrow AM and stick it in when we get home from Dad’s.
I’m doing a cycling challenge over Xmas (Rapha 500, so ride 500km between Xmas Eve and NYE). I’m doing it all indoors so although not the original intent of the challenge, it will still be quite hard for me (it’ll be 15 hours or so). Local parkrun tomorrow, which I’m looking forward to.
