I would add
5. They give you more power and a more even pedal stroke as your feet rotate
6. You can pull up as well as down so bunny hops & getting over obstacles get easier
7. They keep your feet in roughly the same position on the pedal, so pedalling is more efficient
8. Compared to flat pedals with pins in them, they save you from losing most of the skin on your shin when you crash and collide with the pedal.

Disc brakes are also awesome, shame we don't have a lighter ones for road bikes. A few people do have them on races though ;-)

I remember my Dad pointing at a road sign and saying that he'd leant on it one day (with his feet strapped in) and the sign fell over, taking him with it. He lay on the floor tangled in his bike and the sign, with motorists laughing!

I've been upside down in a ditch, similarly strapped in.

Injured, Toks? Or just hurt pride?

I haven't had one for years, but that probably means I'm due to have one very soon.

My worst ones have been on ice. You hit the ground so fast you are lucky to get a hand down, never mind getting your feet out.

Had a few of those, Lucky. Yeah, it's so fast that you're lying down before you know what's going on.

Mountain biking in the snow, though. That's LOTS of fun!
