I've got small Castelli Nanoflex, but note that I wear x/xxs in most cycling shorts and they're not typically finishing that far above my knee. Medium may be OK for someone closer to mean height.

Thanks. I will give the mediums a go I think.

Just slid the tandem on a fast tight corner, where the road was covered in mud following yesterday's rain.

We are both somewhat scuffed.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't anticipate it.

Important question: Is the tandem OK?

Mostly. New Lusso shorts and Assos jersey less so.

I hope you're both not too battered, @jacdaw. eL Bee! was similarly kicking himself when Princess Pink bucked us off at speed on a damp muddy road.

Chain waxing question:

I'm thinking next time I replace my chain, I will switch from oil to wax and maybe have 2 chains in rotation to take a little admin out of relaxing and being able to ride. Having never done this before, I have 2 main questions:

1. Is wax going to survive a downpour? I rode for an hour last week in heavy rain and my newly oiled chain seemed to cope but all the road filth did stick to it - even with mudguards. Ideally I'd like to be out longer in the rain and not have to worry about my chain.

2. Would this type of cheap leg waxing pot serve to melt wax for use on a chain?

You could try buying a pre-waxed chain?

Good video here on "is chain waxing worth it?"

He says in wet environments, with a waxed chain, you need to dry it after each ride. And the biggest hassle is stripping off the manufacturer's lubricant.

ultimately seems to suggest drip on wax emulsions (like Silca Super Secret, or Squirt) as an interesting compromise if you don't want to become a full-on chain wax nerd.
