Agreed, Gobi, but at my level doing an occasional count to see that I'm spinning at about 95 or 100 is as good as I need, surely?

Mrs Shanksi, do you have a gps device for running? A lot, including most Garmins, can also be used as cycle computers albeit with slightly reduced functionality. If this is the case, you can get something like a Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor for quite cheaply. As long as it's ANT+ compatible it should work.

I'm still using the cadence/speed sensor from my old 305 on one bike, while other bike has newer one that came with the edge 500. Both heart rate straps still work too on the edge. 305 fell to pieces well over a year ago when it fell off the bike but the accesories live on :-)

mrs s has a Garmin FR110 which, as far as I can tell, does not support the cadence/pace sensors from Garmin. Looks like this could get expensive. But on the other hand, I might not be stuck for Xmas present ideas.

Just for your info, I never used distance on the turbo, it seems a really really odd thing to do! The turbo is best used for specific power sessions etc when the weather is too bad to go out, like pyramids and other interval type stuff. For this heart rate is the most important thing. I have a cadence sensor for my Garmin, but never actually used it, but that is personal. I just use a high and a low cadence in sessions, doesn't need to be too specific...

Good call Hanneke. Also never use speed or distance on the turbo.

Power mapped to cadence mapped to hr in my world.

Any turbo sessions i have done i find that the distance and speed on the turbo vary vastly from the distance and speed on the garmin during the same session. I just sweat until i can sweat no more then stop :-)

At the session I went to they were talking about 90rpm, 100rpm etc. I just tried to move my legs in time to the lady in front!

Can't wait for Xmas now ;-)

My turbo sessions are usually all about cadence, occasionally HR. Intervals.
On my coaches watt bike it's all about power.
