You're probably technically correct lf but they were called dumplings on the recipe so I go with that. I'd say the result iscloser to scone than dumpling but I like thin crispy dumplings and I don't eat meat as well as not being able to eat wheat. GF veggie suet used to be very difficult to find, not sure if it's still the same.

I've used coconut oil as a sub for suet, 1 part fat, 1 part self raising, breadcrumb it pinch of salt, add water to bind. They seemed slightly lighter than atora veg ones and were well received.
