I made a peanut butter variation on the chocolate oaty slice - replaced half the butter with smooth PB and reduced the sugar by 30g - pronounced 'even nicer' by my OH.

oh that's good to know LMH, I didn't get around to the first version, but the nutty one sounds even better :)

I need to bake later for the kids' lunchboxes.

Discovered what happened to my brick of a sponge. Different brand of flour and I had confused sr and plain.

It's much better Rosehip (if I say so myself) and of course it's going to be a bit better nutritionally too. I was worried it might be a bit dry and had thought that if so I'd melt some chocolate on the top but it definitely doesn't need it.

Tesco's did the same to me on Saturday lf - tried to sub the gf plain flour I'd ordered with self raising - I told them the woman it didn't quite work like that but she looked at me as if I was talking Chinese. It always surprises me when people don't bake or cook. What are you planning for the lunchboxes?

I'm at cuthberts hockey training and haven't had tea yet so I'll probably just chuck some little fruit buns in.

My sponge recipe called for sr flour and a bit of extra baking powder which fooled me as there was a bit of rise.

When Mr LF reduced his work hours he took over shopping and didn't know baking powder and bicarb were different. He's a chemist by trade. After three days of me pointedly calling things by names of other white powders(can you pass the coke please? Salt in your tea) and reading the labels to him slowly he got the hang of it....

Not really baking, but I spent all weekend making the stock and it would have been criminal to not lob a couple of dumplings into tonight's soup.
