Somewhere to share recipes is a fab idea Linds.
It's ok to burn things occasionally, HB - stay with us.
i'm grateful for my baking stash after a long day at work followed by a video governor's meeting that has just ended. Pass the peanut butter brownies!

Tesco had 1.5kg plastic bags on many different types of floor tonight. Still not a great choice of sugars though, and no vanilla extract.

OH made an orange custard tart but it was a crap recipe and ended up being in the oven for over an hour. Still don't know whether it will set. Grrr....

I found the same to our Tesco yesterday, i_w. I got caster sugar from Aldi but ended up buying expensive vanilla pods as there was no extract and I need to make vanilla ice-cream.

Im curious about that one, Linds!

Still can't find black treacle, I got some molasses from Sharkie's link a while back - but not quite the same.
Light brown sugar in short supply locally too.

Snap Rosehip..Most baking supplies ok in Booths (Windermere) ..except no light brown sugar. And no semolina. Which is a bit of a random request, but I add some to my shortbread for a bit of crunch.

Try an independent village shop if there's one near, RH - that's where I got soft brown sugar, light and dark. They said they can get it anytime from the wholesalers. I've not seen any in a supermarket or mini-market for weeks.
I've not looked for black treacle as I've got a tin in the cupboard. Golden syrup is available in the Co op

I have enough semolina - for shortbread as I can order it from the Hungarian shop when I get gyulai and tarhonya :), I've tried every shop locally for light brown sugar and drawn a blank. Managed to get dark muscovado from Ocado, that will have to do.
