Manchester tart was a large tray (serves eight) of soggy pastry, layer of red jam, then cold custard with skin. That's it. That's it in Manchester in the early 1960s anyway.

I love jam roly poly - difficult to get gf veggie suet but I have been known to make it when I do.
Coffee and walnut loaf cake pronounced a success even without any icing.

Thanks - it‘s the twins‘ delayed 20th birthday tomorrow. It should have been last Friday but we delayed it until Girl Twin comes out of quarantine tomorrow
