Ours are getting harder. Sam is quite controlling when he's home.
No music
No radio
No singing
TV only allowed at certain times. Some channels not at all.
Dragging my wife out of bed at 6 am every day
Many many repetitive routines which slowly drive you up the twist!

So Wednesday, our son was shouting and screaming at the wife, including screaming in her face and calling her a c**t at the top of this voice.

He got a slap around the face for that apparently. And it would have been deserved.

But when speaking to your social workers about your son's anger issues (he sees one each week who is supposedly helping him with this), I'd advise that you don't tell them that last bit.

Two of them at our house this morning doing a safeguarding visit.

Because it's easier to tick off a box that isn't needed rather that actually sort out the actual fucking issue.

Nightmare Stander! On the one hand you want them to know how bad it can be on the other hand that may back fire. So difficult!

So frustrating. I really think it's so sad that social services teams are given an unrealistically high workload. Whenever I attended EHCP review meetings to deliver the education aspect of the review, I often found the medics or social workers didn't have time to attend. It was supposed to be multidisciplinary but often ended up being a meeting of me and the parents.

During my teaching career in Special Ed I soon realised that no-one should make any judgement of the parents. I took young people on a number of residential trips and that gave me a very tiny taste of what it might be like to care for their loved ones. Unbelievably tough!

My eldest son had me up against a wall with a knife at my throat while a social worker stood there and did nothing! He’s 19 now and a different boy in lots of ways. If he had been a violent partner people would have told me to leave him but it’s a different story when it’s your own child!

I’m having a bad day mental health wise. I know it will pass but everything seems so negative and miserable and I just don’t see the point of it all!
