DeeGee I did quite a lot of reading around women and autism for work which made things completely fall into place. If I can find the relevant links they might be helpful for your colleague.

jelly please don’t go anywhere. I have found your input on here really insightful and all individual experiences contribute to the collective knowledge base.

Picking up on the eye contact point, a couple of years before I finished work we recruited a young guy into our software development team. I wasn't involved in the interviewing process, but J faced the wall throughout the interview with his back to the interviewers. I'm impressed with the interviewers for taking it in their stride and judging him on his merits as a software developer. We quickly learned not to bother with small talk or expect a greeting in the morning but he was a valuable member of the team and his focus made him more productive than many of us who'd been their decades. NT people need to recognise that there are particular skills and strengths that spectrum people will bring to the table as long as they (NT) don't try to force them (spectrum) to follow arbitrary NT conventions. |

I didn’t declare my autism when I went for the job I do. My superviser was a family friend who knew, I knew I could manage the job and didn’t want declaring it to ‘make a difference’ I don’t keep it secret with my workmates but I don’t wave a huge flag either! I found a part time job that I absolutely love, mostly I drive around in a fork lift truck moving pallets and loading things but there are really boring things like reworking and putting stickers on where I can just listen to music. I can do ‘some’ really boring simple automated jobs where other people get fed up and frustrated! I think I use too many words at times which is why what I say gets confused. Anyway I had actually come to say, I’m in a mileage predicament! My fetch running records start on 2/4/18, but I’ve just found the previous years record in old Fitbit data, the only fly in the ointment is seeing I may need to check through 2018s records (they came from map my run) and cross check them with the Fitbit data as I’ve already found ‘extras’ eek! I’d just like to have it all from day 1 in fetch! I’m sure some of you will understand! |

I’d just like to have it all from day 1 in fetch! I’m sure some of you will understand! Totally! I know I’m missing some data from my early attempts at running but I don’t remember where it was recorded. So I’m trying to forget it happened 😅 |

I totally get that too. In my first year and a bit of running I logged it on a different website but can't find that now. I think it was an American site. It was all the stuff I did not long after my hip resurfacing so not much but it would have been nice to look back on and compare how much I've processed since then.
