I've switched focus a bit, I'm mostly doing weighted lunges and sled work on leg day rather than the heavy squatting I was doing before. It seems to work all the same muscles without me scaring myself. The only people squatting heavier than me at the gym are the hillbillies, and they have their supportive group keeping an eye on eachother.
Bench press I'm now repping at 110kg, and 120kg goes up relatively easily on a single rep, improved a lot since moving to higher reps and building weight with each set, after I got into a rut on 5x5

Morning all, i got back in the gym Monday night this week after about 3 weeks off for various reasons, one of which was a lovely week in Portugal.

Anyway, decided to take it a bit easier but still have some lovely DOMs, looking forward to getting back to it tomorrow night again.

While i was away i spent some thinking about what i want to get out of going to the gym and realised i probably shouldn't be chasing more and more weight on the bar, just going and doing what i'm doing is proving to be a great help and some very gradual increases is probably the most sensible approach, avoiding injury but still making me stronger (at the moment) or at least preventing further decline.

Hmm last week didn't quite pan out as i'd hoped, so didn't make it back to the gym again.

However, this week started well on Monday and i have killer doms in my quads again, will definitely be back again tomorrow night and hopefully once over the weekend.

Still thinking i don't need to go mad and really push myself, so gradual improvement is the order of the day, and avoiding injury obviously.

How are you going @Maclennane

Has anyone used Garmin for strength workouts since the latest updates? Mine has started generating a nice little diagram showing what muscle groups have been worked. That's going to be really useful for beginners but I've found it quite interesting for mixed sessions myself.

They are useful. I've been getting those sort of charts since I started recording my weight training sessions with my 745. Here's today's session.....

I'm still out of commission, not even supposed to plank, but seeing the physio on Friday, going to ask if I can put cuffs on and at least start doing curls and tricep presses

Hope the physio goes well today Mac.

Good if shorter session in the gym last night, covered most bases, didn't go crazy so all good
