Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

You can see the difference in how much space the different types of plates take up. On the big, front pin, the two bottom plates are steel & weigh 25kg each. The next 3 plates are rubber, bumper plates that weigh 25, 20 & 5kg.

Nice, do you alternate which weights go on which side?

You can do that, it makes sense to do it so you don’t get too imbalanced side to side. I do the lift straddle style so always have the big pin at the front & the small at the back. On sets of 5 at 80% 1 rep max I alternate which hand goes at the front. Above 80% it’s always R hand at the front. That’ll become exclusively R hand from the closer I get to goal.

That's hard-core

I'm currently in a GVM phase. Means I do a lot of reps and spent a solid chunk of time at the gym.

However, still failing to get twice a week consistency in.

What’s the GVM mean, Gobi? I’ve not come across that before.

GVM? Is that something to do with off season training? I think I've heard of it in the past. Mr Ness has often muttered stuff about me not reducing the intensity of my running to give me time to recover after a race. As you can tell, I took a lot of notice of what he was saying! 😉😂

Morning all, i did make it to the gym last night and am very pleased I did, felt better for going and slept well subsequently as usual, although it was shorter than i would have liked due to circumstances.

That said i did also squeeze in an easy hour on the bike (zwift, not outdoors obvs).

A right, just German Volume Training then. Never heard it called GVM. Cool, I’ll remember that for the future.

I think I've just about topped out my back squat this evening after upping the weight a bit every time I've squatted this year. I've hit 63.5kg (it's an 8.5kg 1 inch bar that I'm using in my shed) and it was a real struggle so I think I'm going to stick at that until it starts to move a bit more easily.
