Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I love my marathon medals, and the ones from the mini-marathon in the 80s, other than that I'm not bothered about medals.

My favourite race momentoes are two extremely high quality pieces of clothing - technical top from Kew Gardens/Richmond Running Festival 10k (best-fitting and most flattering running top I own), and my Human Race Ballbuster hoodie (it has thumbholes and is the warmest thing ever).
I also think chocolate should be dished out at the end of any half or full marathon! Or at least something decent to eat anyway. Such as the hog roast at the end of the Bacchus marathon/half, or full English breakfast at Trionium events. Yum!

I am a bit of a race hoarder and keep medals and London/Brighton Marathon race packs, magazines, etc. All in a box in the loft mind you. The only race numbers I keep are marathons, not for shorter distances.

Any finishers cotton t-shirts I wear in bed or as an extra layer on cold days. The technical tees I occasionally wear for other races when I give my Fetch top the day off!

I think either cheap with no medals but maybe a nice "spread " of cakes tea sandwiches etc after OR either a unusual / quality medal or.a momento that is different from other events. Don't like cheap standard medals, once you have one they all look the same and will always look cheap.

Jono.
I've noticed though over the past couple of years there are some proper quality medals knocking about - no crapiness in sight.

The Brighton Marathon produces interesting medals with a different image of the city each year. The KRR Marathon medals are seriously heavy.

Is it me, or are the VLM medals not as good as those in the FLM days?

Not bothered about medals but I do like technical t-shirts that I can use to run in or go to the gym.

Might I add I think your first medal of any particular distance is always something nice to have.
