We're supposed to be getting one in my next door town soon, though this has been a long time coming
I think I've just been in one can't remember any other. This one was in Basildon it was ok but I wasn't impressed

No. Stockport does and in 3 years I have not been in and probably won't in 3 more years.

The good old 'Spoons serves a purpose - cheap and cheerful. I have never had a bad experience in any of my visits. I like the way that the chain like to take on historic buildings, do a renovation but still keep the exterior intact. Also the way they usually give the pub a name with a link to a local character or feature.
I also love the story that the founder Tim Martin attended Exeter School, a private school in er, Exeter. One of his teachers told him that he would never make anything of himself. That teacher was called JD Wetherspoon.

There's a new one in the old cinema in the town where I grew up (Bexhill-on-Sea). Must visit soon, will bring back memories of Saturday morning cinema. Apparently it has a roof terrace and is very nice.

Ours is in a 18th century coaching inn, and is full of racing memorabilia as we're in Hambleton 'Home of the Race Horse' apparently. So long as you don't have any high expectations, 'Spoons is fine. The burgers at ours are good and are perfect after a long winter run in nasty weather. Good beer choice and easy food long after other pubs have stopped serving grub.
I should mention it's called The Three Tuns, in Thirsk!

Spoons are a hit or miss thing. Some are great others are more like crack dens. 2 that stand out for me are The William Webb Ellis in Twickenham and The Knight Tempar in Chancery Lane, London. The latter is a very impressive building and is well worth a visit if in the area

The Ritz in Lincoln, I only ever go in there to use the toilet when I'm running through town and that's all I would use it for, an awful stinking hovel full of people who look like they have no souls. The other one, The Square Sail on the Brayford is totally devoid of character but it's clean enough and serves a purpose.

Although №83912 rated Pilgrims Progress in Bedford one of the worst he'd ever been to, the girls at work and I, go occasionally for lunch. Cheap and cheerful the food comes really quickly. It has an upstairs which is quieter and I like that you can order on the app so the food comes straight to your table and you don't have to stand at the bar.

I went to The Berkeley in Bristol about 265 times, if that helps.
