Dvorak my avatar was taken a couple of years back, I've since lost 4 stone from running, and will probably put most of it back on with post run ice creams.
I've drank in the Kings Highway a couple of times, but never stayed there, so can't vouch for the ghosts. Last time I was there was in March on my way back from running the Glasgow 3K on the Green and Hazelhead parkrun.

I'm slowly making my way home from the Conkers meet-up, I'm in my third 'spoons of the day - the Acorn in Lichfield, two of them were new to me the Sir Nigel in Swadlincote and the Bole Bridge in Tamworth.

I almost always avoid JD's, mainly because I feel the person that owns them is a c*&t.

Cheap and usually grim. Naff food, and what WS said about the owner. Homeless shelters with alcohol

Was in the spoons in Rochester a couple of days ago. Six of us, a meal and a drink each, £45. Good portion sizes, all the plates were emptied. It may not be Michelin-starred food but I've genuinely never had a bad meal in a spoons. Honestly don't understand why everyone slates them so much.funny how they are always packed when so many other pubs are closing down. If they're that bad why are they always so packed?

Because they are Cheap and predictable. Same menu in every one. Pre-prepared food heated on the premises. Nothing fresh.

All true. But I've had many worse (and more expensive) meals in "proper" restaurants over the years.

I agree with WS. I’ve avoided ‘spoons since the brexit vote.

This was in the sidebar. My last pre-first lockdown pint was in a 'spoon and I've not been back since, what with the head honcho being even more of a @#£& than before.
