Mornage.
Am I the only one here who likes spiders and has no problem picking them up?

TeeBee
Carp - I had a few really distressing experiences as a kid (in UK and South Africa). It's a real phobia which I know I could get over if I took the time for the treatment, but it's not something I have ever got round to. I really should, but while I live where I do, I only have to confront my fears 1 or 2 times at most per year. If I moved out of London (which we plan to do in the future) I think I would seriously consider treatment.

Fragile Do Not Bend
I think you probably are Carp.
I've gotten over my spider phobia and am now down to just not liking them at all. A hand-held vacuum cleaner was the best thing I ever bought.

That sounds horrible TeeBee Glad you don't get many spiders where you are now.
While I'm perfectly okay with spiders, snakes scare the living daylights out of me. Even unexpectedly coming across one on TV can leave me hyperventilating. I'm lucky to live in the UK I think!

Icelandic Trigirl
TeeBee, I'm pretty bad too - and one great reason to live in Iceland. We have hundreds (if not thousands including the babies) under the patio (sorry, deck) and they colonise it every summer. I have given up using the deck and hottub because I don't want to go out there. I can't open my windows in summer
I really don't like to kill them so I usually persuade someone with the glass and card trick if they get in the house. I can do it myself but it leaves me trembling for ages afterwards. Pathetic really, but as you say, it is a genuine phobia.

Sneaks back in...and you're talking about spiders! I might come back later...
I don't mind spiders but don't like to pick up big ones. Daughter's decided she's arachnophobic, she does have a pretty extreme reaction to even the tiniest one.
Off to try to catch up on the 623 posts I've missed...
