@macca 53 I remember looking in on that Pose session. I don’t think I’d enrolled for the course but did have some one to one coaching with Jon P .

Canute
@Derby Tup Thanks for your continued interest. I am now in the seventh week of my modified C25K programme. Up to the end of week six I aimed for short jog segments up to a maximum duration of 4 min, to avoid sustained stress on my troublesome knee. I maintain a relatively high cadence (typically 185-195 steps/min) to ensure short stride length to minimise stress.

My knee has coped well so far. This week I plan to increase the length of the individual jogging segments substantiality. On Tuesday I included two jog segments of 8 minutes. Today I included two jog segments of 12 minutes duration within a total jogging duration 46 minutes. My knee did not complain. I am nonetheless aware of the need to monitor each increase in load very carefully. If all goes well I will continue to make steady increases in the duration of individual segments. I am reasonably optimistic of reaching my target of 40 minutes of continuous jogging by the end of the 10 week programme.

@macca 53 how are you progressing with your programme?

You're doing extremely well Canute - your careful approach is paying off and is an example to those of us (ie me) who can be too impatient.

You are doing really well @Canute. Steady inprovement is excellent. I haven’t had a very good couple of weeks with “life” getting in the way of training.

We were in Berlin last weekend to support my daughter (4:35) and her schoolfriend (3:51) in the marathon and next weekend I will run (very Germanically!) a viertel marathon (10.8km ish!) with her while her husband does the HM. I’m hoping to get round in 70 minutes or so. Then we will be off for “Winter training” in Portugal for a couple of months.

I hope to have many more years ahead of me to follow the example (but not the standard) of our local hero who ran our local parkrun last weekend in 37:55 at the age of 89. In 2020 he set the UK M85 mile record at 8:10.!!
