Here's my latest wizard wheeze. A running/training/competing/whatevering thread specifically for the over 60s. Yeah, yeah, I know there's the over 50s club but that's A) just for babies B) liable to descend into endless chat about old telly and old toffees. Which is all very good and pleasant but how about something more targeted for us still keen codgers? Whaddyer think? |

If I can get somewhere near my 5k PB in 17 years time, I'll be 42nd on the all-time list of over-60 5k runners: fetcheveryone.com/league?distance=5&unit=km&year=&age=60&people=&mindate=&page=0 Some amazing times on that list. Good luck with the thread ![]() |

Thanks Fetch! I'm quite prepared to let it quietly die if there are no takers. Won't sulk, will just get on with it! |

As an over 60 person, happy to hang out here. What are we going to chat about? |

As the over 50s club is a more general chatty sort of thread I wondered if this could be a bit more athletically focused? That could mean distance running, ultra running, sprinting and jumping (that's me) triathlon or whatever. Prob discuss specific issues related to being an older athlete - I have noticed quite a few differences since my 50s (am 66 now) - and it certainly gets harder quicker as the years mount up. But we won't be gloomy! There are some stunningly good older athletes on Fetch! I want to be one of them! ![]() |

Hurrah! I understand you're an ultra runner (er there's a clue somewhere....) and have completed over 50 marathons - but are concentrating on shorter distances now - is that correct? Also noticed you've been thrown an additional challenge with a recent diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. You sound to be coping admirably well but it must have been a nasty shock. How are your running/fitness plans working out at the moment? Were you tempted to give up? |

I'm just looking forward to joining the 50s kids next month. See you in 10 years though Sharks. Hiya Ultracat *waves*. I just did Cateran, did you see?! I thought of us at Bridge of Cally as I went through. Carolyn K was marshalling there this year. And Flip! ![]() |
