The Terminator
Really like Bill Orcutt, can take or leave The National as has always been the case.

I'm still loving Lael Neale so time to leave a 10/10 review 😉

What you all listening to?

Yes, I've listened to loads - so many that I need to blog about em and write up my reviews. I have been very very busy though.

I loved the EBTG album when I first played it but I've cooled a little on it. There are a couple of quite poor tracks, espcially lyrically. It's still a good album but I'll step back from 'great'.

Also most enjoyed the new Depeche Mode album Memento Mori. Again, as always with DM, a few not so great lyrics but Ghosts Again is up there with their best.

Not brand new but the best newest album in the last couple of weeks was The Art of Losing by The Anchoress. I think it came out in 2021 so she's only just touring it. Really strong tunes, great voice, good lyrics.

Most disliked was the new one by Feist, 'Multitudes'. So noodly that the tunes and her voice are barely there. I preferred the Noerwegian Black Metal album (Dødheimsgard - Black Medium Current) and I can't say I was too fond of that one either.

Agree about EBTG. Some duds. Some tracks I like. Went back and played Eden and I much prefer it, but I guess that's because it reminds me of being young and also it's as familiar to me as my own hand.

Going to get a couple new reviews up today for the National and the New Pornographers. Need to put another couple on rotation now. Heard a couple of very good tracks on Iggy Pops 6music show and need to go back to the track-list and figure out who they were

About This Thread

As a spin-off from Joopsy's excellent Albums of 2022 thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/albums-of-2022-62537/ this is a new thread where we commit to listen to one new album a week in 2023. Allowing a couple of weeks off for life commitments etc, that's 50 albums in the year.
EDIT - new and improved (i.e. exactly the same) for 2024
