Gen and the degenerates is some good youthful rebellion, I like it.

I had them as one of my artist of the day last year and they were one of the highlights.

Nadine Shah presently playing, at first listen its more like Holiday Destination than the last one, hopefully aged Depeche Mode fans will be flocking to her shows.

I keep replaying the Pip Blom, Margaret Glaspy and Bill Ryder Jones albums. I am also loving Sadness Sets Me Free by Gruff Rhys which I only bought because I loved Bad Friend and the records I had gone to buy were out of stock.

The Terminator
Been listening to Liam Gallagher and John Squire. Got to track 4. I don't need nostalgia.

I'm going to try Yard Act but don't think will be for me. Others on today's radar are Faye Webster and Everything Everything. Maybe Mannequin Pussy. Nothing excites me though. Any recommendations guys? Or am I back to Vera Sola and Eliza McLamb?

It might be a bit early to call this but Sprints - Letter to Self might very well end up being my album of the year, with Future Islands - People Who Aren't There Anymore being a close 2nd......

Sprints is very much my album of the year so far. I've been trying not to listen to it every day so as not to completely overplay it, but I have no doubt it'll be up there on my year-end list :)

I don't think I'll bother with Liam G. He has a much higher opinion of Liam Gallagher than I do.

I listened to the first Yard Act album last week - I'd only every heard bits before. It was alright, but not really my thing. I hear that the second album is more electronicy/dancey so it might be more to my taste.

I really really enjoyed Jazmin Bean - Traumatic Livelihood last week. You'll know if you like it or hate it after the first song. Maybe even half-way through that song :-)

I will also give Everything Everything a go. I have previously enjoyed their stuff.

Looking ahead, next week, Kim Gordon has a new solo album out as do The Libertines and the Jesus and Mary Chain :-o

About This Thread

Maintained by McGoohan
As a spin-off from Joopsy's excellent Albums of 2022 thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/albums-of-2022-62537/ this is a new thread where we commit to listen to one new album a week in 2023. Allowing a couple of weeks off for life commitments etc, that's 50 albums in the year.
EDIT - new and improved (i.e. exactly the same) for 2024
