JCB: deffo not every day! The 100 PU Challenge suggests every second day at best, though when i got to the stage of more than 50ish press ups in one session it was more like every 3 days for me.
in fact, the reason i stopped doing the challenge was because i was prioritising it more than my swimming, and given that i was aiming to do my first half iron man last year, that wasn't helpful!
but i would recommend the 100 PU Challenge as a great way of supporting the 5001 target.

Looking at Nellers' 1-2-3 listing on the spreadsheet, it reminds me of the old story about the guy working for one grain of rice on the first day, two on the second, four on the third, etc :-)

Thanks Gordon, something to keep in mind. :-) If I get bored I might start doing that one.

How did your half iron man go?

1-2-3 does look like that. :-) Also like run-the-sum.

Nellers, maybe after tuckering out on that (if at 20), you could fall back to run-the-sum (pressup-the-sum and chinup-the-sum)?

The HIM went very well, thanks JCB. 7 hours, which was 30 mins faster than planned :-)

won't be doing another one, though!

That is a terrific outcome (time-wise). It's good to check things off, and a 70.3 is no mean feat. Congrats!

Managed to get off the mark today. No strategy going on here at all, but I went back to the gym today and used one of those fitness test machines. Part of it was how many press ups you could do in 15 seconds. I did 13, but didn’t have my hands on the platform properly so it registered as 0, so tried it again and did 16. Not great, but it’s a starting point.

30/90 all on knees. Still pretty tough and done in 3 sets of 10. I reckon in a couple of weeks I may be able to try a few full ones.
