Hmm I do a lot of press-ups at CrossFit, it would be interesting to count them and see exactly how many. I might join in 😄

i'm with jcb when it comes to strategy. when i was trying this last year i got to the point of being able to do 120+ in one session. but that involved doing a few (almost as a warm up), then a few more, then as many as i could, all with a couple of minutes rest inbetween. you wouldn't go flat out running without warming up first, and it's the same for press ups.

The last couple of days I've been able to do 4 lots of 25, making it 100 for each day. End of last year it was 3 lots of 20, so it does build up. Couple of times at the end of last year I did 6 lots of 20 (was trying to do 60 per day and when I skipped a day I'd try to do 120 the next).

last year i also started the 100 press ups challenge. it's a good way of starting slowly and building up to a higher total. Fits in well with this challenge.

I need to improve my core, in fact it's kind of one of my non resolutions this year so I'm gonna give this a go.

Gordon, that's interesting. I looked at the 100 press ups challenge last year and it seems intriguing. In regards to your strategy for press ups last year in doing 120+, was that an every day effort or were there rest days after such an effort?

Pedroscalls, that's why I started last year too (on August 23, starting with 5, like 'run the sum'). It became a bit boring but then I found the 5000 challenge, and then broke it up into sets rather than all at once.

Maybe this year I could try to push the envelope and go for 100/day and total 36500, since I've already done 100/day for 2 days.
