BTW, according to your report, you did pretty well out of not doing press ups

thing is though WS, literally every time i race i think to myself: "i wish i had a stronger upper body/core"!

the press ups were interfering with my swimming training. i'll be doing less swimming this year so i'll have no excuse to not do press ups (though i'm sure i'll find one!).

ok, will update the spreadsheet in the next day or two.

swimming/weights is a bit like running/weights, you need to do it, but which exercises and when as they can interfere....

I am past the 8000 for the year now so don't really have any other milestones although I might try for 1000 in December.

I don't think it's affected my swimming, although as I increased the number of pressups I was doing (and other exercise through the summer), I've got a lot slower at swimming. From about 1:46/100m or faster at the beginning of the year down to 1:53/100m for a steady hour now. Not really sure why.

good going Oranj. it was actually swimming that put me off doing the press ups. as a weak swimmer my arms were always feeling knackered if i'd recently done some press ups and in the end i was putting off the swimming, which was the wrong priority for me.

BINGO! 36 done this evening to take me to 5001 logged for the year. :)

A great challenge for the year Dave, but I think I'll look for something a bit different next year.

About This Thread

I used to have decent upper body strength but then I switched from doing triathlons to pure running ...

Edit: now we have a spreadsheet thanks to GordonG
