No worries cw.
Sam's *only* got a marathon to go.... Looks a tough event from the pictures I've seen online, and judging by the drop-out rate.

Crikey I've moved up to over 50 miles ahead of target. The 20 miler was wind destroyed, (2.31), but my condition makes me believe maybe a marathon at end of April is a good idea.

Almost to the end of the first quarter of the year - let’s have a look at the thread stats for the end of March :

We now have 41 runners with a declared target of 2000 miles for 2019, so again hard to compare with last month.

Of these 41 runners, 27 are on or above target as of this morning, so 65.8% - very comparable with last month.

If we keep the same measures as last month I.e. +20%, -20% and in-between, we get the following numbers :

18 (44%), 9 (22%), and 14 (34%) (c.f. February’s 36%, 18%, and 46%)

Sadly the symmetry from January is now in the bin, (or would that always be the case - 20% more than target after two months is a lot more of a stretch after all) however looking at those 20% above and 20% below target, and those in-between we get 14, 7, and 18 - so more or less 36%, 18%, and 46% (cf. January’s 27%, 27% and 45%)

Outliers…. At the end of February we had 4 runners at more than 50% up on target, which has expanded to 6 this month - I’m beginning to think you either set the wrong goal for the year, or it’s just going much better than expected….? We must be almost at (or past) peak marathon training, and taper should be kicking in some time soon, one to keep an eye on later in the year.

And there 2 (5%) are more than 50% behind target after the third month, I hope the injuries etc. clear soon and you can get back to it.

We had a host of target races this month:

Sam Jelfs Legends Trail 250km 1/3
Chrisull Duchy 20 <2:27 3/3
SM6 Inverness Half <1:30 10/3
sjjh Balloch to Clydebank Half <1:30 10/3
oumaumau Hardmoors 55 (50m) <12 16/3

From a little gentle stalking it would seem congrats go to Sam Jelfs, and me(!) for successful completion, commiserations to Chrisull for narrowly missing his target due to extreme weather, and I’m not really sure what to SM6, and sjjh - hope all is OK?

Next month, hopefully, we’ll have a comparable set of numbers, and the result of some more of those target races.

Well done all, sometimes just getting out the door can be a challenge so good on you for getting that far (and often much further). It's early days yet, so for those behind target there's no rush, you have 9 months (most of them warmer, with longer days) to catch up. For those streaking ahead, hope you are enjoying it - remember rest/recovery is where the adaption happens.

If you'd like to see any other stats at the end of each month, or even no stats at all, then post about it below. Stay tuned and best of luck!

thanks for the roundup oumaumau! I'm 6% up and just cruising along nicely at the moment. Next target for me is Maidenhead 10miles which is the end of the month. Not sure I'm on PB form, but I'd like to give it a bash at faster than HM PB pace to see if the VF4s make a difference.

Slowly closing in on that little heart next my total...

I've pulled out of GUCR in May, going to go crew instead. I'm racing Another One Bites The Dust in June, the last in the Legends Grand Slam, so I will focus on that instead. It's a last-man-standing type event, but I just need to do 100 miles to get that slam complete...

Sam, with running Ultras, does your mileage peek and trough depending on your schedule or are you consistent through the year? I find with just a 10K in my weekly schedule I find it hard to hit the weekly total needed for 2000mls/year if I want to do the race justice...
