Thanks GG, yes we had a good meet up yesterday with good food and drink.

The weather has been rubbish, and it rained heavily all day yesterday, especially heavy on the way home.

Always good to take the pressure off, by not running for the sake of it.

Did the Farmer's Walk this morning, and have a routine dental appointment this afternoon.

Getting home at 10pm after a late flight isn't conducive to having a run gg! Glad you chilled out by doing Christmas stuff.
Glad too that the ice has gone up there Lesley, you put a good run in there.
Long covid....or the long term effects of it which from what I understand can even be permanent...is hit or miss and an individual's fitness prior to having it doesn't give any guarantee. My RHR is no different but my HR won't take going beyond 135bpm before my body shouts stop. I've read about cyclists and runners who just can't get back to how they performed pre-covid. There is of course speculation in some quarters that the COVID vaccination has a detrimental impact on some people. I don't know about that being valid.
Good Farmer's Walk hs and a trip to the dentist could elevate your heart rate too!!
Yeah, rubbish weather. Rain again here so 4.1 miles on dark early morning roads for me. Quite a struggle getting past 30 seconds actual running, during such efforts is when I think about becoming a distance walker instead!

Sorry you’re still struggling Steve when you’re running.
I ran with an 80yr old distance walker who was walking 80km for his 80th birthday. I had to run to keep up with him 😂.
I managed a 5 mile run/walk trying to keep my HR low.

Well done HS on your farmers walk.

Wow that man is amazing power walking can be so fast… glad you managed a nice 5m

Long Covid is such a worry as they don’t know what they’re dealing with. I know my lungs aren’t what they should be after the anaphylactic and a cold always goes on my chest. Hope you get some answers soon but it’s great that you’re still sticking with it Steve. How is Torey doing?

Same for you Jaks.

Got out for a 6.5m with my friend this morning it was lovely we ran round the park and shocked at how flooded it was.

Persistent rain here all day yesterday. This morning I woke up to sunshine and blue grey skies. I went out and ran 10.6 miles in a breeze but it wasn't as windy as I expected. After last week's cba's I really enjoyed this morning's run. Perhaps it was just the weather that made me feel like that.

80km all in one go Jaks? Blimey, 49 miles is incredible if so. Pleased that you're able to put in 5 miles already after covid, looks like you've escaped after effects.
Great to see your double figure miles FF, back to your pre nasty weather self!

You're continuing with good miles gg. Torey is out of her boot now and doing strength/flexibility work daily on her foot. She's got her eye on running in January and will see what physio says. Thanks for asking.
I thought I'd hit 700 miles for the year today but only did two miles in torrential rain, it'll have to wait until tomorrow!

Oops didn’t mean to post that quickly 😂.

Well done on your 2 miles in the rain Steve, I just did a mile and looked like I’d been for a swim when I got back. I’m still being wary Steve about any after effects.

Hope those running parkrun have better weather.

A lot of posts since my last one!

Steve, there are several of our club runners that say that they have never got back to their former pace since contracting Covid.

The dental appointment went well, in and out in about 5 minutes. Its the Hygienist that does all the work.

I hope that you make the 700 miles during tomorrows run.

Good to hear that Torey is making good progress now!

JJ, that 80 year old man walking 80k is amazing. Well done for run/walking trying to keep up with him. Well done for this mornings run in the rain. Hopefully you will gradually be able to increase your hr whilst running 🤞

GG, well done for this mornings 6.5 miles round the park with a friend.

FF, well done for this mornings 10.6 miles in the breeze. I'm glad that you have got your mojo back.

We had torrential rain during the night, which continued this morning. The parkrun wasn't cancelled, but we decided not to do it, as it would probably have been course D, the 4 lapper.

I did a steady solo 11k (6.84 miles) this morning on a hilly road course, pushing on the hills. It was belting down with rain, but the top that my daughter had bought me was amazing; it was waterproof! I remained dry, except for my feet running through all the puddles.

Last night was the club's Christmas party and I'm glad that I didn't go. One of them videod them running up and down the spiral staircase with arms in the air and singing. It would have been ridiculous, an elderly man doing that. I would have been holding the rails and walking.
