🙄 I just can't win 🙁
No wearing in of my new shoes today so still not making inroads into catching Mark. Well done on reaching 600 miles though Mark. I should get there next week, hopefully.

Steve... the silver shadows were 100% improvement on the white or black daps we had back in 84...... the fitness tests then wre 1.5m warm then back but in boots.... there was also a mile effort that we used to do in the daps..... when I left in 08, you could wear what ever trainers you wanted...
3.37m head space short progressive run for me .... phoned in sick as still not right in the head..... and adapting to medication.
Take care all

My first attempts at running were in baseball boots, and I ran my first Marathon, the Liverpool Marathon, in 1982 in black Woolworths plimsoles. I ran it in 3.40 so didn't do any harm.
My first "proper trainers " were Brooks Chariots which were very heavy and motion controlling. Never worn Brooks since.
I ran 9.1 miles in the forest with 2 club mates this morning.

I went out at 7.15am to avoid the heat. Hate running before breakfast though!

back to the shoes of the early 80's hillstrider--I originally wore some leather "trainers" for my first months of running and then used Pony for my first marathon in 1981 (3.58). They collapsed after 26 miles and I got a refund! Not quite shoes but on my feet--I've been wearing individual toe socks now for a year made by Injinji and they give a different experience to "whole" socks! I prefer them overall even though they are expensive. I seldom run AFTER breakfast!

Steve, Lesley, the toe socks sound just a bit freaky! My toes are not quite like anyone else's in my family, nor as far as I've ever seen, anyone on the beach or in the pool! So how do you size them to ensure the correct fit? And are there any benefits of wearing them over and above "normal" socks anyway?
