Steve, Lesley, I've never considered trying toe socks, do they add cushioning?

Today is a rest day.

When I first started running in 1982/83ish, I didn't know anything about running shoes and wore unsuitable shoes, but then I found out about Hi-Tec Silver Shadow which I bought, but they were more expensive than any shoes I'd ever bought at £19.99! A few years later I graduated to the upgrade - was it X4 - they were £24.99. I probably went without pudding for about 6 months to pay for them! Things have changed since then; about 10 years ago I got a very comfortable Brooks Ravenna, and I've had Ravenna ever since as they still fit me like a glove - currently Ravenna 10.

They are supposed to give less blisters. Mine don't have extra cushioning but I'm sure you get some with that. They are good when you are off road and have water/bog crossings I don't feel the water in between my toes. Incredibly comfy socks.

Thanks for the info Lesley.

Light rain this morning and I ran 7.3 miles on roads. For some reason, I was very slow, despite not intending to be. Surprising really, as yesterday was a rest day.☹

You can get various "grades" of Injinji...some for trail which my wife wears. I wouldn't say that the standard ones give noticeable cushioning but for me they keep my toes nicely spread (my toes aren't the best left to their own devices). I agree with Lesley that they are incredibly comfy. They make a difference too if one's shoes are a little tight in the toe box and allow one's toes to behave more naturally!
Out just before 6am and the first spits of rain but a bloody awful slog of a five miler!

I've been for two runs today. Anything to avoid trying to write exam papers that work online. 9miles running today.

Rest day here today as it has been pouring all day.
Forecast not great tomorrow either.
Long run sometime over the weekend 🙂
