Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Maybe when I get in tonight. Not having breakfast before I left, had a bit of a fry-up when I got to the office ;)

Thanks Steve and well done for persevering running on the soggy trails. I've chickened out of forest running these last few days, as it is more or less impossible to achieve much more than run/walk and wade through the mud. Even the gravel trails are waterlogged.

Well done PK. Fry ups in the office, whatever next Lol.

The car had its annual service and MoT yesterday and passed with no problems.

The rain held off this morning and I ran 7 miles on roads in bright sunshine.

HS, good that the car had no probs with the MoT test. I'm more concerned that I'll keep passing MY MoT as my bodywork is getting rather rusty and tatty, and the engine isn't so efficient these days, and as for the wheels - I'm not sure when they'll eventually fall off; they've been patched up over the years. I hope to be able to keep going well into my 80s before I'm consigned to the scrapheap.

As regards running on soggy, muddy ground, I would say that in order to achieve quality running, you may have to stick to the roads and other more substantial surfaces for a while.

Evangel, thanks. I'm hoping to keep running into my eighties too. Only 6 years to go! You are right about sticking to the roads for the foreseeable future. A couple of the local parkruns were cancelled today because of the waterlogged grounds.

I was very lucky this morning as I was able to run before the rains set in. I ran 8.5 miles on roads and saw several other runners. Most going in the opposite direction to me.

Great stuff PK.
Well that's three of us who hopefully will run into our eighties--nine and a half to go for me! A couple of minor repairs (!) along the way I should be able to tolerate! As for quality runs Evangel I prefer to label mine as enjoyable I think. Any real quality with regard to pace, for me, is consigned to log books from way back when! I did only run on the road this morning , again, before heavy downpours which continue to deepen the puddles on the trail paths along the river. Enjoyable. Only saw one other runner- who I see regularly and don't know how she can enjoy running (well at that) carrying her smart phone in her hand...as many other seem to do too.

Steve, the term 'quality' is flexible and comparative. You ran in your younger days, whereas I was nearly 40 before I did any running at all, and then I had no idea what to do about training at that time.

I did a run on the Amman Valley cycleway this morning; I did time-based intervals for a change - 8x1min. (+ 1min.30sec. very slow jog RBI); it slopes a bit so it's slower in one direction, but quite pleasant the other way; it was quite a good session.

I hope to be running until the day I drop. Can’t see me giving up, even if I slow down!
