I have to say that it was a brilliant day out. I really enjoyed it all - one of the best races I have run. I must be odd, as running up and down the same route doesn't bother me - there is always something different to see!

Great blog Mrsb, I stopped at 11am on Sunday for a moments reflection at the side of the main road and took my hat off too. I stopped again just over a mile later in a village with a war memorial and paid my respects there too. I'm pleased your knee is ok and those medals look great, what a memory to have.

I've signed up for the same race next year. Forgot to take my hat off - mainly because I forgot I was wearing a hat!

It's important that those who lost their lives are remembered; a Great Uncle of mine died in the trenches early on in the First World War aged 21; my Grandfather was a prisoner of war in the Second World War. What is sad and deplorable is that despite all the poppies and ceremonies and fine speeches...the wars continue after a hundred years.

Yup, WW1 was supposed to be the war to end all wars...
