Got out for 5.5 miles on Saturday but the focus at the moment is regular small runs rather that specific weekly mileage targets at the moment as I continue to treat and manage the Plantar Fascitis

Well I suppose that's pretty impossible to answer! It was the first time I tried things like intervals though and I also found the suggested paces very helpful - I was very much at the start of my 'training properly' so in a sense, you are correct, I would have improved anyway. That said I still use the basic structure of the first Half Marathon plan to train my first-timers and it does always deliver - although I entirely agree with the need to have a two-way process and tweak things to suit individual runners. I find giving the newer runners a plan helps keep their over enthusiasm in check - some of them would do far to much too soon if left to themselves!
