Foot & Mouth Went off to fast and thought I'd pay for it at the end but I managed to hold on and surprised myself as I thought I'd only just break 46 minutes

Lalli PB and under 55 minutes, so hit my 2009 goal! Weather spot on. Official time recorded as 54:40 (although I crossed the line by their timing clock at 54:37! and my Garmin was 54:30!)

The Outlaw Fairly easy start (1mile @ 6:10) then maintained a comfortable, good pace throughout, without pushing too hard. Deliberately ran at a more cautious pace compared to last year, and as a result, a had much more enjoyable run - last year I was completely exhausted at the finish. However, it was disappointing to not break 38 minutes; I ran 29 secs slower than last year. Worst of all, I didn't realise how close I was to catching two V50 runners - John Foster (Croydon) was 2nd V50 in 38:21; Hugh Saxby (Hercules) was 3rd V50 in 38:28; I was 4th V50 just 6 seconds behind Hugh and 13 seconds behind John. Even worse, both these vets qualify for the Surrey Road Race league, leaving me only 3rd V50 in the league on the first race of the season. If only I'd known how tight it was I'm sure I could have make the effort and passed them!
