Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Fairly easy start (1mile @ 6:10) then maintained a comfortable, good pace throughout, without pushing too hard. Deliberately ran at a more cautious pace compared to last year, and as a result, a had much more enjoyable run - last year I was completely exhausted at the finish. However, it was disappointing to not break 38 minutes; I ran 29 secs slower than last year. Worst of all, I didn't realise how close I was to catching two V50 runners - John Foster (Croydon) was 2nd V50 in 38:21; Hugh Saxby (Hercules) was 3rd V50 in 38:28; I was 4th V50 just 6 seconds behind Hugh and 13 seconds behind John. Even worse, both these vets qualify for the Surrey Road Race league, leaving me only 3rd V50 in the league on the first race of the season. If only I'd known how tight it was I'm sure I could have make the effort and passed them!
