Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

brotherjohn Chance to run this came up at the last minute, did a 5k race this morning before I knew. Ran the first half at easy pace with club mate, then pushed it a bit in the second half. Mud, mud, mud and hills, hills, hills! A very tough race, but enjoyed it. 34th place and 5 seconds behind first M50.

PhilB66 A tough event with lots of mud and hills.
Very pleased with how I did - 54th overall and 25th vet.
Self timed a bit slower than official result: 1:55:44
Chose trail shoes rather than studs due (a) to not having used studs over longer than 5 miles before and (b) a quick recce in woodland near car park suggested things were not too bad underfoot. Very soon began to question wisdom of this as just after the start we went down a very slippery trackway (which we had to come up to the finish - even worse!). Three of the hills I walked up, the last primarily due to steepness, but the first two because I was struggling for traction. A tumble and slide down one hill, fortunately on forgiving grass. However, later on, there were a number of road and firm track sections where I think I was better off with my Salomons.
Rain before start and quite heavy on way home, but worst of the weather mainly held off for duration of the race.
