Footpad A sub 40 on the cards! 3rd time of running this and it is FAB!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! A new PB! Started off in the 35-40min slot as I was determined to get under 40. It meant running at 8min/mile or less all the way. Set off and quickly got into my stride and was running well with 2 friends. Checked watch and it was 7.15 pace.... far too fast so let my friends go! Also I was being overtaken by people who were either too far back at the start or running too quick. Settled down at 7.40 pace and tried to concentrate on breathing. Mile 1 and 2 went and then Schnecke came up and we ran to the water stop together. I have to stop and drink so chucked water down and then set off again. I reckon i lost about 10 secs as I could still see Schnecke who had not stopped. i then battled through mile 3 and 4 and then caught her up. Was hot and struggling a bit but actually could still keep the pace going and overtook the runners who passed me at the start in the last mile and managed to beat my Pb and also 40mins :-)
Schnecke not sure I kept you going as I was all out in the last mile but having you there was great :-)

Again a great medal, fantastic goody bag and also a t-shirt..... what more can you want from a race? A bit congested at the start but that means it is a victim of it's own success. I will be back next year for another PB please!

GAZGIB I was quite pleased with the result as I continue to improve for the 1st year since 2005. I was happy to beat my brother, particularly as he was dressed as Superman, but his mate Batman overtook me at mile 3.

hatterfan Bad preparation for the race led to a poor time. But putting that aside, a well organised and fun race. Great goody bag at the end too! The only down side would be the tight start, as the number of competitiors is far too high to fit into the starting pens!

Keefy Beefy Happy with beating a very soft PB. Was thinking I would struggle to hold 6:45 on average. Main reason for this race was to have an accurate measure of fitness to use for marathon training paces. Just wanted to race as hard as I could without blowing up. Still a good bit off where I was last August (10K PB pace is still 15 secs per mile better than this) but getting better. This a great race and one I would be hapy to do every year. Flat and fast, a nice setting on the Thames and you get a crazy amount of freebies. Also, it's been sunny and hot both years I've done it. The only bummer is you don't get to go over Marlow bridge.

Konaboy Great race although on this occasion a little too warm for me. Very congested at the start with many placed well too optimistically for their ability. Felt good for first 2 miles but struggled for the rest of the distance especially with Batman cruising past just before the 4mile marker! Brilliantly well organised with plenty of support on the course & a wealth of goodies at the end. Defo will do again.

Miss Minx Slow first mile - lots of congestion - but given how I felt was quite happy to run slowly. Managed to speed up throughout though and felt much better in the last two miles. Nice race, excellent goody bag, lovely weather.

Schnecke Going for sub 40 here - if it's a bit cooler than last year! Yes! Managed to get under the 40 min mark so well pleased with that. Nice to see Footpad there - thanks for running that last mile with me and keeping me going!

Windsor Wool a bit disappointed but shows how well I went at Shinfield last week; overheated and clearly under-hydrated; nice race though - great to meet up with so many Dashers in the park afterwards. Brilliant goody bag, thanks Handy X; 42nd /1600 ish
