Baza hot, hot, hot..... not ideal running conditions, but having arrived at the stadium very early it gave me time to make sure I had taken enough water on board. Not the most scenic route, but flat enough to bring me back year after year. Was hoping for 39 mins, but after checking my watch at 5K and it showing 19:58 I new that was gone and it was a case of getting round from then on. Passed at least 6 club runners walking by 7K, presume the heat got them - hopefully they finished ok. Nice warm up for London though, easy week this week

Big Al Widepants In 2004, this was my first ever 10K. Late for the start - scrambling to catch the back markers and not be last. Did 58 mins and then in 2006 did a then pb of 47.45. Good flat course. Hoping for sub 45 in prep for Lochaber. UPDATE: Global warming is a reality. Either that or the refinery blew exhaust gas all over the town during the race because the temperature must have been 25 in the sun at least. Started well with 4.04 for the first K and followed that up with a 4.16 and a 4.46 uphill to be 24 secs ahead of schedule.then a weird 5.32 which must have been long as the the 5th K was 3.54. Having said that, I had to stop to tie my shoe - embarrassingly rookie-ish error. 22.32 at halfway so 2 secs ouside pace. K6 was 4.25 but struggled with a 5.15 and the sun was catching up with me. Had to stop again and tie the shoe - AAAAAARGH. Got passed by George who looked like he was flying. 4.49 for K8. 4.40 for K9 and by this time I'm begging it to stop. Passed George back and did the last K in 4.41. So PB by 4 secs although I was so out of it on the home straight that I couldn't hear my family cheering or see the gantry clock which was on a car to the side. Altogether it's a PB and without the sun or the shoe debacle, I should have gone under 46. Reckon I have sub 45 well within me. Met the lovely Tigger again who suffered like I did in the sun. Better luck next time!

biru Not quite as fast as I'd have liked but six seconds faster than last weeks 10km and another PB so happy enough. Struggled a bit in the unusually hot weather. Very happy with the quality food and (black) t-shirt in todays goody bag:)

ChrisU Not seen any official results yet, but my watch time was 35:23 which would be a PB by 2 seconds.
Very warm.

Doonhamer Anything around 37 will be fine. Update. Ran round in 37'59'' and like a lot of others didnt run too well in the heat. Felt up fot the race at the start and went through the first 3k around target pace but started to feel very heavy legged in the 4th k and lost over a minute and sort of throw in the towel at that point and plodded around the rest of the course so as not to take too much out of me for next week

Dvorak Hmm - I can now run twice as far, slower: can I now run faster again? I'm hoping that, at least, it doesn't snow. **Update** Actually, by the end I would have welcomed some snow. Very disappointing. I don't think it was just the heat to blame - although a merciless sun was beating down. In mid-April. I knew I wouldn't PB, but I expected inside the hour. In the end I was fighting just to beat my worst-ever time. All Ok for first 2K, but legs felt tired from then on. Walking sections from 6K on. I did both 10Ks of the Alloa HM faster than this. AHR 170 MHR 187.

Ellem Oh that was hot. I had a catalogue of disasters, shoelace came undone twice, too hot, no water, too hot, stitch, too hot, too hot. Not one of my best races but a very well organised event and nice goody bag will return next year and do better!!

Haggis Carp!!!

Legs felt like lead all the way round today, pity because the course has potential.
I don't think i've ever felt quite so exhausted all the way during a race before.

Was nice to see so many Motherwell AC members there, including the kids section.

Son of a Pronator Man This is a flat course and with the right conditions, I should do well here.~~ Update: Sorry to all my backers, I crashed badly in this one. I woke up on Sunday wth a throat that felt like I had swallowed a cheesegrater, and feeling much less than 100% - added to this it was very hot and sunny, too hot for running. I was on schedule up to 4k, then very badly off schedule at 5k ( markers must be wrong ?), but it was over for me by then and I never got anywhere close to what I had hoped for - amybe the virus, maybe the heat or both. I am consoled by the fact that I was faster than the same race last year, and few Fetchies seem to have matched their predictions.

toepointer Had stinking cold but wanted to exploit current fitness and this race was in the Grand Prix Ranking Series. Couldn't breath properly but still fit enough to do a steady run in what for me was a disappointing time. Enjoyed the heat though.
