Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

frizzle This was my first 10 miler last year. I have only done one this year (Barrow 10) which was very hot and hilly. Hoping to go under 90 minutes!!! NO!!! Will DEFINATELY go under 90 minutes. I can do this in training so no problem!!!

Update!!! Well I did it!!! Over 5 minutes off my PB but I did know that it was pretty likely!!!
Foot sore before I even started running!! Went off quicker than I had planned and by 3m was a little knackered. There are two fly overs to run over and they really took it out of me!! We tried to drop the pace a little and by 5m things were back on track and the next 3 miles were ok. Started picking people off but had stitch in last half mile. I should be ecstatic because off the time but not so pleased with generally how I felt after the run. Legs tight. Foot sore. Ankle niggly and stiff back. BLAH!! BLAH!! BLAH!!! Apparently that's how you are supposed to feel after a PB!! but normally I just feel knackered not hurting. Going to book a physio session tomorrow so he can give me a once over!!!

Marts This is a nailed on fetch PB unless i get injured during the race. have regularly been sub 63:30 in halfs and 15 milers this last 6 months so come and get some credits!
(went through 10miles at GER in 60:52). Last race in Cambs Road league also. Am 6th in league so hoping to push for top 5 place in final lge standings!
UPDATE:- strong breeze/wind meant lost 15s/mile between 4 and 9 miles and this cost me a sub-60:(
BUT still a PB big fetch PB and lifetime PB as took 31s of previous best set as a 19yr old in May 1994:)
AND surprise bronze medal in Cambs county champs which were incorporated in race:) (was in silver with 800m to go thought didn't know positions at time) v windy and boring course but overall v pleased and will now have to do NV10 to crack 60mins.
No 8 was top bloke and helped me big time in last 4 miles so pleased he got PB too.
Went in car with frizzle (PB), Old man (M45 PB) and Malc (M40 county bronze) so happy car on way back :):):):):)

No.8 â„¢ Big up to Marts, followed him from 1.5m to the halfway point and then worked with him to 9 where he had a bit more left and I came in about 20 seconds behind him at the end.
Good race, flat and fast but headwind from 4.5m to 7.5m made it quite difficult. Two and a half minute PB and the next 10 miler I'm going sub 60 :-). Full analysis will be blogged.
