Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can't tomorrow because I'm doing the virtual mid sussex marathon weekend and need to preserve my legs- next weekend or another time would be very keen though!

I’ve done many Bologna’s. It’s great fun.

Top tips:

1. Race is about half flat, half climbing (by time) so road vs TT bike is a close call. I usually go TT bike with climbing wheels like Enve 3.4.

2. You get pushed up to speed off the start ramp but race does not start until you pass the start line which is a fair few seconds away. Keep an eye on the clock, no need to go hard until the clock actually starts, but cruise at a decent speed so you aren’t accelerating from a low speed.

3. Watch your sector splits on the left (8km and you get power/hr splits at each km and during the current km) so good for regulating effort. You get more out of a negative split, so keep some in reserve for the climb.

4. Hill is really last 2km and climbing that last 2km will be half your race by time. So measure the effort accordingly. That last 2 km feels like eternity.

Enjoy, let us know how it goes.

No worries - I'll put some more meet ups in soon :)

Thanks for the tips - I'm not a bike racer, but I might see if I can get the old HR up a bit for this one(!)

I’m going to try to join you at 10 but I’ll have to leave early as it’s Virtual Scout Camp weekend and I’ve got to do flag-break via Zoom at 1100.

Bologna is the worst. They need to run proper TT's on different courses, ie flatter ones
