I don’t like Climb Portal as it feels very gamey (I know Zwift is a game). I think the Climb Portal routes are on a schedule, aren’t they?

I made the mistake of running up one a few weeks back on a treadmill zwift run Fortunately for me I had the treadmill not linked to Zwift's incline as I was just using Zwift to record a neat and tidy .fit file for me (I've stopped doing that now, and use QZ instead) but I did enjoy cruising past struggling riders on steep gradients whilst I was doing an easy treadmill run!

I didn't mind it as the colours tell you what is coming

You made me LOL there Chris. I would rather be on an Andorran mountainside than in my cobwebby garage!!
I’m with you G. They seem to have been very successful in getting away from the game feeling only to take us overtly here. It won’t be for everyone but like Gobi I like the easy ability to see what’s coming.
Looks like the Tourmalet later this week. Zwift Insider says it’s gonna take me at least an hour to get tip there. Blimey!

Tourmalet is a good climb in real life so should be fine in the game

Anyone doing Tour of Watopia this year? I missed the first stage as I was away, but I’ve caught up with the free rides, so have done stages 1-3. I have an idea of trying to do all the available rides in each stage, mainly for the double XP, as I’m trying to get to 50 (I’m currently on 46, so a long way to go still).

Yes, I'm doing it, as I can't run, and won't be able to run for the foreseeable future. I'm also doing the race of Watopia, which is quite sparsely attended, and my form is through the floor, so I'm a low-to-mid cat C at best of times. The first one I did was ok, in a 47 strong race, I have not the power to stay with the front bunch, so didn't try to, and went into the grupetto of 10 odd riders, and then outsprinted all but one of them at the end for 31st. Second race, a secondary peloton never really formed, and that was quite chastening, as those in the secondary peloton seemed focused on just riding everyone off their wheels until it totally disintegrated and we came home in 1s and 2s. Tour of Watopia isn't so race centric as it's not really that much of a race except nearer the front, so it's more pleasant.

I did the first two stages before going on holiday (one as an event, and the other almost by accident in a group ride on one of the tour routes). I'm trying to decide whether to get back on track this week or whether to give my legs a bit more end of season recovery before getting back into it.

Yeah, I don’t use ToW as races at all. Just Z2 stuff really. I think I’m going to jump into a ToW route whenever I ride over the next couple of weeks, with the exception of TTTs on Thursdays. I think I’ll even tick a short ToW route off as a warmup prior to this week’s TTT.

Also going to tick off the ToW for the double XP, but not going bananas. I'm halfway to level 45 so would likely tick that off by the end.
In the first week I was getting double XP in the ride I was doing as a warmup, if I had the event ride coming next. They seem to have closed that loophole now!
